Mid-Phanerozoic Stromatolites in Western Australia

This research is focused on an outcrop of stromatolites in the northern Perth Basin, Western Australia that has been suggested to have formed in response to the End Permian Mass Extinction (EPME) approximately 251 Ma. My research demonstrated that this formation was not associated with the EPME, rather formed during the Permian as part of a lacustrine setting. This formation was separated from the Kockatea Shale and classed as a new Lagerstatte based on the identification of unique microfossil preservation.
